My problems relate to Software Errors

Everything within your computer is driven by software. From the time it wakes, to the time it sleeps, to the time it dies right in the middle of downloading the critical cricket updates from the ACB.

The good news is the computer will probably give you an error message, the bad news is that nobody ever seems to know what the error messages mean. But you can take heart, the tea leaf reading class is in.

Reading the tea leaves ....

Error 1. "Port Already In Use"

A modem plugs into the computer either internally or externally. Simplistically this connection is called a Port. If the Port is busy it means something is already using the Port and the command from the computer software to the modem can not get through.
Try restarting the computer. This will clear the Port and the error message unless something else is specifically using the Port. Look for fax software, digital diaries, palm pilots etc that may be using a communications port. Close these down or turn them off and restart the computer and try again. If problems persist call the Support Desk.

Error 2. Random Windows Errors

Sometimes your computer will generate random errors, error messages with or without reference numbers. In this case we suggest restarting your computer as this will reset the windows software and remove some of the confusion that can occur within the code. Not technical but it seems to work.

If your problem is not one of these try one of the following topics.
