Setting up Outlook Express to use the {SPAM} flag.
A number of customers have asked how to make use of the {SPAM} flag inserted by our mail servers. The following instructions will cause messages so flagged to be deleted.
To configure the mail rules
Open the Outlook Express software - there is no need to be online at the time
At the top of the page there is a Toolbar with File, Edit, View etc running across
Click on "Tools"
This causes a drop down menu to appear
Click on "Message Rules" and then select "Mail"
A "New Mail Rule Dialog Box will appear if this is your first Message Rule or you will need to select the "New" button if other rules already exist.
In the first box "1. Select the Condition of your rule" we need to tick the option "Where the Subject Line Contains Specific Words"
In the second box "2. Select the Actions for you rule" we need to tick the option "Delete It"
In the third box "3. Rule Description (click on an underlined value to edit it)" we will click on the link "contains specific words"
This will open up a new dialog box asking for a specific word or phrase. We need to type "{SPAM}" then select the "Add" button.
Close the box by selecting "OK"
You would now normally take the default value for the box "4. Name of The Rule".
Click on "OK" to close
Your Outlook Express should now be ready to automatically delete any message with {SPAM} in the subject line.
