Setting up Outlook Express on your Computer System

You can either elect to recreate your user account on your system or check the existing settings. We suggest that if you elect to check existing settings and it does not find / fix the problem you should opt to recreate the email account before looking further. This sometimes corrects software problems on the computer.

In either case you will need to know your "username" and "password" before proceeding. This is located on the your initial connection confirmation or from our Support Desk.

To create / recreate an email account on your system

Open the Outlook Express software - there is no need to be online at the time
At the top of the page there is a Toolbar with File, Edit, View etc running across
Click on "Tools"
This causes a drop down menu to appear
Click on "Accounts"
Click on the "Add" button to the right and select "Mail"
Next to Display name type your full name. (Note. Normal writing format is OK).
Click "Next"
Next to Email Address type: "username"@tech2u.com.au
Click "Next"
Select My incoming mail server is a "POP3" server
Next to incoming mail server (POP3) type: mail.tech2u.com.au
Next to outgoing mail server (smtp) type: mail.tech2u.com.au
Click "Next"
Next to Account name type "username" and next to Password type "password"
Click "Next"
A message will now appear telling you that you have successfully created a mail account.
Click "Finish

Your Outlook Express should now be ready to send and retrieve email

To check existing email account settings on your computer

Open the Outlook Express software - there is no need to be online to do this
Click on "Tools"
Click on "Accounts"
Click on your account to highlight it
Click on "Properties" to the right
Click on the "Servers" tab
Check the information reads:
My incoming server is "POP3"
My Incoming mail {POP3} is "mail.tech2u.com.au"
My Outgoing mail {SMTP} is "mail.tech2u.com.au"
If you have updated the entries Click on "OK"
Click on "Close"

Your Outlook Express should now be ready to send and retrieve email.

If this does not solve the problem we need to look elsewhere.
