December 2008 Newsletter
Welcome

The Management and Staff wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

During the Christmas Period we will be open every day except for Sundays and Public Holidays.

Our only change is that between the 21st December and the 10th January we will be answering the telephones on weekend hours {this means between 10.00am and 2.00pm}.

Of course in an emergency call anytime as we are often here outside those hours.

If this will cause any undue stress , please contact us as soon as possible so we that can make alternative arrangements.

Systems Upgrade

Important - Please Read!

At TECH 2U, we carry out regular systems maintenance between 10am and 2pm each Saturday.

This means that sometimes systems are restarted or opened to move or change the hardware.

On Saturday the 3rd January this will involve opening and cleaning the heatsinks in our web servers. Each web server will be taken off line for 30 minutes during this maintenance window. Webmail will also be unavailable on this day.

Stop Spam with Captcha Images

Millions of spam messages flood the Internet daily. Spam bots (mechanised programs), trawl the internet searching for ways to deliver their unwelcome message to your inbox. One method they use is to fill out any form on your website with their information. The form then arrives in your inbox filled with the spammer's advertising rather than, for example, a query from a genuine customer.
One of the most effective ways to stop spam is to use a captcha image on your forms. This is a validation code that consisits of a distorted picture of one or two words and/or numbers that can not be read by a progra.. The words must be entered by a human for the form to be validated and sent to your inbox. As spam bots can not read (and hence fill in) the validation code, any information generated by the spam bots in your form will be regarded as invalid and hence not sent to you.
TECH2U is able to place a captcha image on your form(s) for you. For further information, or a quote for adding captchas to your website, contact them on 1300 36 36 41 or email your inquiry to webpages@tech2u.com.au.
