This month marks thirteen years since our first newsletter went out. It also marks twelve months since our relocation into our new offices in Gordon on Sydneys leafy North Shore. Airconditioning, larger workstations, undercover parking and better staff amenities make working so much more productive. We can even see whether it is day or night time outside with the large windows looking across the suburb.
For those that have yet to visit the new facility do not be shy. It is the same team doing the same tasks just in a more modern facility with better parking. If dropping something off on the weekend please remember that it is a security building. You need to enter "019" into the panel to the right of the door and wait for an answer.

 Systems Upgrade |

Important - Please Read!
At TECH 2U, we carry out regular systems maintenance between 10am and 2pm each Saturday.
Over the October long weekend (the 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th of October), we will be carrying out a major upgrade to the electrical supply to our office building.
Starting at 9pm on Friday the 3rd, we will be switching to battery backup. Between then and 3am on Saturday the 4th, a number of our systems will be unavailable due to this power upgrade.
Staff will be unavailable for technical repair work on Saturday the 4th as they will have worked through the previous night to complete the upgrade. Limited telephone support will be available on this day.
If this will cause any undue stress, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make alternate arrangements.

Software Updates :- Daylight Saving Changes (DST) - Australia 2008
In October 2007 the Australian states of New South Wales, Victoria, Australia Capital Territory, Tasmania and South Australia agreed to harmonise their DST start and end dates and to extend these daylight saving dates. From April 2008, daylight saving will end on the first Sunday in April and recommence on the first Sunday in October in these states.
Microsoft has issued service patches including these dates for Microsoft products. If you have not updated your software we suggest that you do so.

Once again it seems that we are on the abuse end of spam attacks. No one seems to be immune. If you see any emails purporting to be about Airline Tickets, Undeliverable Packages (fedex, ups etc), contract changes, credit card charges or bank statements please just delete them.
We are currently cleaning upwards of 600,000 spam messages per day from the system.
If you have a website that contains forms, you may want to consider putting captcha images on your forms to stop mechanically-generated spam. See below for further information.

Millions of spam messages flood the Internet daily. One of the most effective ways to stop spam is to use a captcha image on an internet form. A Captcha image is a validation code that consists of a distorted picture of one or two words and/or numbers that can not be read by a program. It is placed at the bottom of a form. The words in the captcha image must be entered into the form by a human for the form to be validated (and hence the information in it sent to you). Captcha images stop mechanically-generated spam from using the form pages of your website for their messages.
