Registration of your M.YO.B. is an important step in your relationship with M.YO.B. and Data-Tech Software. As a registered user, you're entitled to information about product upgrades, new products, exciting offers and exceptional service and technical support. You can also help us serve you better by letting us know about your company and your suggestions for making M.Y.O.B. even more incredible! Because of these mutual benefits, all users of M.Y.O.B. are required to register their copy of M.Y.O.B.
Registering Your Software If you don't choose to register immediately, you'll be able to use 25 sessions of M.YO.B. before you're required to register. (in other words, you'll be able to start the M.Y.O.B. program and open your company's data file 25 times before you're required to register.)
Here's how to register:
- If you haven't exited M.Y.O.B. since you used the M.YO.B. Setup Interview, choose Exit (Win) or Quit (Mac) from the File menu at this time.
An alert message about saving the changes made to your data file may appear; click Yes to save the entries you've made.
After you've clicked Yes, another alert message may appear, asking whether you want to back up your data file; if you wish to make a backup of your data file at this time - we strongly suggest you do click Yes.
- After you've exited M.Y.O.B., double-click the M.Y.O.B. icon to start M.Y.O.B. again. When the Welcome to M.Y.O.B. window appears, click the button labeled Open an Existing M.Y.O.B. Data File. Select and open your data file.
- A message appears, informing you that you need to register your copy of M.YO.B. Click the Register Now button; the M.YO.B. Registration window appears. Call the number on the screen. We'll ask for your serial number and some other information including name, business name, address and daytime telephone number, and then we'll provide you with your customer number.
- In the Customer No. field of the M.YO.B. Registration window, enter your customer number. When you're finished, click OK. The Command Centre window appears. Select Save from the File menu, and the Customer Number will be permanently recorded.
- If you're tracking financial information for more than one company (in other words, if you have more than one data file), you need to enter the same customer number for each company. Follow this process again to enter your customer number for other companies.
- After you receive your customer number, we suggest you write it down and keep it in a place where you'll be able to find it. This number also appears in the Company information window (selected from the Setup menu), if you ever need it.
- The telephone number listed here is for acquiring your customer number only. Don't call this number to reach Technical Support department. Refer to the Before You Begin chapter in the Getting Started Guide for information about calling Technical Support.
