Preferences

Select Preferences from the Setup menu. The Preferences window will appear.

Click on the Chequebook tab so you are looking at the preferences for the Chequebook command centre.

Click in the white box next to an option to select it (turn it on). Click in the box again to de-select that option (turn it off). Click OK to record the selected preferences.

Make a Contact Log Entry for Every Cheque: When you write a cheque that is linked to a card, this is recorded in the Contact Log for the card.

Make a Contact Log Entry for Every Deposit: When you make a deposit that is linked to a card, this is recorded in the Contact Log for the card.

Default Cheque is Handwritten: M.Y.O.B. sets all your cheques as handwritten. Select this if you do not use M.Y.O.B. to print cheques.

Display Payee, Rather Than Memo, in Registers: The name of the Payee is shown in the Cash Receipts Journal, Cash Disbursements Journal and the Inquiry register (instead of the contents of the Memo field).

Warn for Duplicate Cheque Numbers (Will Slow Down Recording Cheques): M.Y.O.B. will warn you if you record a cheque with the same cheque number as another recorded cheque. The recording is slowed down because whenever you record a cheque, M.Y.O.B. looks at all the cheques already recorded to compare the cheque numbers.

Use Notes from Card for Memo on Deposits: If you have linked a deposit to a card, M.Y.O.B. puts the Notes field from the card as the Memo on the deposit. This is used in printing deposit slips. You enter the payee's bank and branch in the Notes field of their card. M.Y.O.B. puts this information on the deposit slip using the Memo field.
