Hiding Files
- Select View/Options/View (click on the View tab). The dialog box shown below will appear.
- Look at the first option. This allows you to Show all files on your computer system, or to Hide Files of the types listed in the white box. These files are necessary for Microsoft® Windows® 95 to run. If they are hidden you can not delete them accidentally.
- Set the option to Hide Files if necessary.
- Click on Apply and then OK
.- Open the C drive icon. At the bottom of the window, in the status bar, will be a comment like: 46 object(s) (plus 18 hidden). This tells you that you can not see 18 files because they are hidden by Microsoft® Windows® 95.
- Go up one level to the My Computer window.
- Select View/Options/View and change the first option to Show all files.
- Open the C drive icon. The status bar will now contain a comment like: 64 object(s). You can now see all files.
- Set the window to Details view and arrange the files by Type.
- Scroll through the files. You will notice files of type system (among others) that you have not seen before.
- Return to the My Computer window.
- Select View/Options/View and change the option back to Hide files.
