Displaying the File Path
- Select View/Folder Options/View (click on the View tab). The dialog box will appear again..
- Look at the second Advanced Setting, Display the full path in the title bar.
- Deselect this option (there should be no black dot next to it).
- Click on Apply and then OK.
- Open the C drive icon.
- Look at the title bar. It should say C:\.
- Open the Windows folder.
- Look at the title bar. It should say Windows.
- Return to the My Computer window (use the Up One Level button).
Select View/Options/View.
- Select the option Display the full path in the title bar.
- Click on Apply and then OK.
- Open the C drive icon.
- Look at the title bar. It should say C:\.
- Open the Windows folder.
- Look at the title bar. It should say C:\Windows.
- Open the Start Menu folder.
- Look at the title bar. It should say C:\Windows\Start Menu.
With this option selected, your title bar is showing you all the folders you opened to get to where you are looking at. This list of folders (eg C:\Windows\Start Menu) is called a path.
When this option is not selected, the title bar only shows the name of the current folder you are looking at.
- Return to the My Computer window (use the Up One Level button).
