Creating A Document

• Select Start/Programs/Microsoft Word to open Word97. The Word97 window will appear on your screen.
  

• Type in the heading The Gingerbread Man. Hold down the Shift key with a letter key to create a capital letter.
• Press Enter to move to a new line.
• Press Enter again to move to another line.
• Type in the following text.

Once upon a time there lived a little old man and a little old lady. One day when the old man was working in the fields, the old lady thought she would make a gingerbread man for lunch. So she mixed up sugar and spice and lots of nice things and cut out of the dough a gingerbread man. Then she put him in the oven to bake.

• Press Enter twice to move down two lines. Then type the following text.

While she was waiting for the gingerbread man to bake, the old lady heard a tap tap tapping at the oven door. Curious, she opened the door to see who was knocking. Out jumped the gingerbread man! When he saw the old lady, he ran away across the floor and out the door.

The old lady cried "Come here so I can eat you for my lunch."

The gingerbread man replied "Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man." And he ran away down the road.
