NOTE. He says that the Potterspury register has a gap with no entries from 1649 to 1679 which makes it impossible to be sure of his parentage. "A Richard Scrivener and wife Elizabeth baptized children in Great Linford, Buckinghamshire in 1653-1665 (Great Linford is 6.2 miles east of Potterspury). That Richard may have later come to Potterspury, and had other children there. I have not found a record of the Great Linford Richard Scrivener baptizing a son named Richard. Thus, I have no proof that the Great Linford Richard Scrivener was the father of the Potterspury Richard Scrivener. However, the burial of a Richard Scrivener in Potterspury on 23 Jun 1699 lends some credence to this theory. Furthermore, "Richard" and "Elizabeth" certainly fit my Scriveners' naming pattern.
Richard, Thomas and William Scrivener were all baptizing children in Potterspury at about the same time frame. Thomas and William may be brothers to Richard. The baptismal records of Richard's sons Edward and William give Richard the title of "Mr." I am not certain that the Richard Scrivener buried on 28 February 1722/23 was this Richard Scrivener."
