His step brother William [Burton] was also involved and was on board a ship called HMS Astrid which had on board Lord Lovitts commandos that when they came a shore went to Pegasus bridge to releave Dad and the rest of the troops that had been there since midnight. So we like to think Dads big brother helped him out that day!"

They were all water men but do not seem to have come up the Grand Union Canal.
