Samuel Clayton [Parents] was born about 1791 in Rushden, Northamptonshire, England. He married Rebekah Crane on 20 Apr 1813 in Farndish, Bedfordshire, England.

BIRTH information from Gordon Cox, who bases his data on Kathryn Clayton's notes made at the NRO (Delapre Abbey) in the 1980s. This lists his marriage as being in Rushden, but IGI says otherwise.

There is not proof that this Samuel is the same one as the father of John, but it is quite possible, though from the date of his marriage and the date of his son's birth he was getting on in years at his birth.
