Firewalls
A firewall is a software product located between the router
and the Internet, which secures a company's private network.
It's typically located on a separate PC from your Internet
or LAN server due to security considerations.
A firewall prevents access to your system by persons outside
your company, and it can filter your company's communications
for security and traffic control purposes.
There are several different levels of security to restrict
unwanted entry into your network.
- Application and protocol security
- Real-time monitoring of network sessions
- Monitoring of suspicious events, such as multiple failed
password attempts, unusual log-on times, or multiple short
TCP/IP sessions
- Access and event logging
