Searching The Web.

To search for something on the web, you use a search engine. This is a directory or index that you can search to find the web address you want to go to

Directories are lists that are divided into named categories. People put entires into these categories. You search for something by looking at a category and seeing what it contains.

Indexes are long lists. Items on the list are identified by keywords. You search for something by entering a keyword, and all items on the list that contain that keyword are displayed.
