Deleting Text It is simple to delete text in Word97. You just select the text you want to delete (a line or a word), and press the Delete key.
If you want to delete only a few letters, you can click to the right of the letters and press the Delete key to delete the letters one by one. Alternatively, you can click to the left of the letters you want to delete and press the Backspace key to delete the letters one by one.
We will delete some text from the document.
- Open the document Marianne Dashwood.
- Scroll through the document. You will see several repeated words and lines.
- In the second section, the following lines are duplicated:
Colonel Brandon "Or rather, as I believe, she considers them impossible to exist."The second repeat of these lines is the duplication.
- Select the second occurrence of these lines.
- With the lines highlighted, press the Delete key on the keyboard.
In the third section, the following line is repeated: her most favourite maxims. She was born to overcome an affection formed so
- Select one of these lines.
- With the line highlighted, press the Delete key on the keyboard.
There are three repeated words in the document.
- Go to the first section of the document. It begins Marianne … was sensible.
- In the first line the word and is repeated. Double click on the second and to select it.
- Press the delete key to erase this word.
- Go to the second section of the document. It begins Marianne: 'there is a something
- In the second line the word I is repeated. Click once to the right of the word I.
- Press the backspace key to erase this word.
- Later the word same is repeated. Click once to the left of the second same.
- Press the delete key to erase this word character by character.
